I was an elementary school teacher and mother of two daughters when I discovered my grandfather’s incomplete memoir, 24 years after he jumped from his Beverly Hills high rise. I set out to become his ghostwriter but ended up writing essays and podcasting about my family’s legacy of mental illness and addiction and sharing other people’s stories as well.
