How plotting will make you a better writer

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been too keen on plotting. I was always concerned that it would take out the spontaneity of writing, something I truly enjoy. I love it when a character does or says something I’m not expecting and takes things in a new direction. So, I’ve never done much more than a rough outline.

And the result? I run into plot problems nearly every time.
