How to Make Your Writing a More Pleasurable Experience

Tips for those who need to reboot the writer within them

In every craft or endeavor, you’ll inevitably encounter a point, when it’s hard to continue. In writing, it may be that your views, claps or earnings hit a plateau, or you ran out of ideas. Or maybe, you’re just burned out and need a break. Whatever it is, you shouldn’t quit.

Making the whole process a pleasurable experience, may change your attitude and reboot the writer within you. Here are some ways for how to do that.

Write for yourself

It’s tempting to say that you should write for the reader. After all, they are the ones consuming our craft. But all the best work comes when you let go of expectations and start writing for yourself.

Writing is first and foremost, an experience for the writer. And throughout my journey, I’ve found that the more pleasurable the piece is to write for me, the more pleasurable it is for the reader to read.

If I am having fun, the reader will. If I am feeling bad and pushing myself to finish under deadline, the piece will probably end up being sloppy. At the same time, it’s a good fix for “not knowing what to write” problem. Instead of coming up with ideas, why not just say what you…
