Our First Month in the Partner Program

Partner Program Update
One month ago The Writing Cooperative joined the Medium Partner Program. This opened up the door to pay more of our writers than before. With Medium releasing the November numbers, we wanted to provide an update on our first month in the program.
First, let’s talk payments. 28 authors submitted 36 stories to be published for members only. After the Writing Cooperative’s 30% commission, the average author earned $22.82. The highest payout will be $276.40 with the lowest being $0.02.
One thing we discovered is that, at this time, Medium does not provide us with means to contact authors. We’re left to beg for email addresses. All of the authors who earned revenue through the partner program in November will receive a private note on their story to request their PayPal email address. Future submissions will require a note be included with the author’s PayPal email address. Our submission guidelines have been updated to reflect this change.
Everyone who earned money in November will be paid. However moving forward, payments will only be made to authors earning at least $1 per month. This is because we are making PayPal payments manually and we’d like to avoid getting overwhelmed with micro-transactions.
